Silver coin "Diana - Goddess of Hunting", gold plated
Diana is a Roman goddess of hunting.
Accompanied by wild animals, with a bow and a quiver of arrows, she roved through forests and mountains, along with the mountain nymphs.
She was guardian of the young unmarried women and ruthlessly punished violators of the maiden's innocence.
She was one of the three maiden goddesses, along with Minerva and Vesta, who swore never to marry.
Keeper of the springs, rivers and wildlife, she was associated with wild animals and woodland, and had the power to talk to and control animals.
The inscription in Latin: "NATURAE CONVENIENTER VIVE!" reads: "Live in accord with nature!".
